ACHIEVEMENTS
In a short span of time, BLSO has shown remarkable progress in terms of institutional development and organizational capacity. More than 70 % of the V/WOs in the area were reactivated through regular meetings and their documentation was improved. So far 57 VOs and 39 WOs have obtained membership with BLSO. In addition 3 other Civil Society Organizations have become members of BLSO. It has also generated a pool fund of Rs. 300,000 to support its member organizations for development activities. A well equipped office with three professional staff is fully functional at Booni village (the centre of Tehsil Mastuj) since 2004. So for, in collaboration with partner organizations such as AKRSP and Political Empowerment of Women (PEWP-Trocaire), BLSO has completed five poverty targeted and capacity building activities (including regular vocational and ICT training) with its members originations in village Parwak, Booni and Rshun (big villages in BLSO area). In addition, it has organized various conferences, seminars and workshops on a number of themes including leadership development, hygiene and Gender and Development for its members.
Keeping in mind its mandate for multisectoral development approach, BLSO has been successful to create effective linkages with development organizations and concerned government agencies/departments. Besides it collaboration with the Aga Khan Development Network (Aga Khan Health Service, Aga Khan Education Service, Aga Khan Planning and Building Service, Professional Development Centre- Aga Khan University), BLSO has developed partnership with IUCN, District Government and other NGOs working in the area to initiate joint activities.
